Mexiko - Sydney Program Coordinator

Mexiko has experience in program development and the implementation of government contracts to assist young people to overcome barriers and navigate a pathway into employment, education and training.

Mexiko has spent the last 3 years working in the OOHC sector, her previous role as a House Manager managing a house of young people and team of youth workers. She has worked with the most vulnerable, complex young people, who have fallen through the gaps. She has also seen them grow, overcome barriers and go on to change their lives and has been fortunate enough to be a part of some of these changes.

Mexiko is originally from New Zealand and is very proud of her culture and heritage. "We have a saying: He aha te me nui o te ao ? He tangata! This translates to 'What is the most important thing in this world? It is people!'". She truly believes this and applies this to her work.

Mexiko believes one of the most important things for young people is to feel connected, and if you are in a position to help someone feel connected safely and positively, you should.
